Levi Gudmundson, age 87, a 30-year resident of Essex, Calif., passed away on Monday, December 21, 2009 in Barstow, Calif.

Levi was born on July 11, 1922 in Provo, Utah, and served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

After retiring from the San Bernadino County Sheriff Department, Levi owned and operated Levi's Towing and Texaco for 20 years.

Mr. Gudmundson was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Maye Gudmundson; daughter, Donna Locke; and son, Dennis Gudmundson.

He is survived by his former wife, Bonnie Gudmundson of Montrose, Colo.; three daughters, Robyn Klohn of Riverside, Calif., Vicki Graham of Redlands, Calif., and Tralena Kilburn-Gudmundson of Barstow, Calif.; son, Shawn Gudmundson of Needles, Calif.; granddaughter, Morgan Kilburn of Barstow, Calif.; and grandson, Levi J. Kilburn of Barstow, Calif.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CA time) on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Needles Elks Lodge, 1000 Lillyhill Dr., Needles, Calif.
