In loving memory of Lonnie Wayne Dye, 78 years old, who passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Saturday, March 23, 2013, and is so greatly missed by his wife, Pat, and all his extended family and friends. Lonnie was born on October 20, 1934 in Aurora, Mo.
Lonnie loved his family:
Sister, Nellie Mae (Dye) Hatchett; niece, Sue and husband, Leigh Hespeler; niece, Patty Williams; nephew, Tom Williams; and all their children and grandchildren. He loved getting together with all of them on his trips to Plymouth, Calif.
Son, Bobby Dye Sr. and his wife, Cathy; grandson, Bobby Dye Jr. and his fiancé, Melissa Quigley; granddaughter, Rachel Rachuy and husband, Jason; and great granddaughter, Brooklynn, who was born March 28, 2013.
Daughter, Cathy Dye Kammerer and her husband, Junior; grandson, Derek DeLoye; granddaughter, Michelle DeLoye and fiancé, Justin Manderville; and great grandson Drayton Manderville.
His "Steps", Mitchell Clemmons and wife, Charlene; Natalie McPherson and husband Kevin; and the step grandchildren, Nathan, Taylur, James, Chase, and Brendan.
Lonnie was always "up" for a good time with family and good friends:
Lonnie loved people, a road trip, fast boats, and fast cars …. once he drove almost two days straight to see a drag race in Reading, Pa. only to have it rained out and just shrugging it off and going on to see the sights in Washington, D.C. and New Orleans. Then, his first year of retirement driving 10,600 miles through Canada to Alaska all the way to the Arctic Ocean and back…. and he loved every minute of it.
He loved running his Howard flat bottom on the river in Blythe and Needles, Calif. One of his favorite things was "representing" with the Hot Boat group that came to Needles for the show each year. What a great group of people and he just loved being with them!
His son, Bobby Sr., and grandson, Bobby Jr., are drag racers and he loved hauling his 5th wheel to the track to be the "kitchen and bedroom" for the weekend and get to watch his boys in action and meet all the people at the track. It seemed he was never at a loss for words when he was around all his boys!
For the last 12 years he also enjoyed off-road adventures, riding in Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. His great joy the last couple of years was riding with the RZR Forum groups.
Lonnie loved being active and joining in! His last trips this year: Valentine's off- road weekend in Quartzsite for the "Desert Bloom Rally", the Hot Boat and Custom Car show February 22-24 in Needles, and RZR Forum ride at North Glamis March 14-18. He already had plans to host an off-road group to go to Oatman and Golden Shores, and had made plans to go to the "Spring Fling" for drag racing with the Dye family, and had plans to meet up with friends at Marysvale, UT for the UTV Jamboree again.
This year, the RZR Forum is having a memorial ride for Lonnie and John (another fallen member) in Taylor Park, Colo. After the ride, they will be placing a permanent plaque in memory of Lonnie and John in the meadow where we camped last year! I know how honored he felt getting to know everyone and how honored he would feel to know that he is being remembered in this way.
Lonnie, I miss you so much and wonder, "How can I live my life without you?" What fun we've had together and what wonderful memories you've left me with. You're with me every morning when I wake up, I feel you with me all day long, and each night before I go to sleep I reach over to touch your pillow and say goodnight. ALL my Love, Pat
You will be forever in our hearts! With Love, Bobby, Cathy and Family.
We love you and you will be missed! With Love, Cathy, Junior and Family
