~Melvin LaMar Peterson, Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at his home after a long-fought battle with cancer. He was born on November 22, 1937 in Provo, Utah to Melvin Lamar Peterson, Sr. and Marilla Harward Peterson.

~LaMar joined the Army as a communications specialist, serving state-side and in Europe. After his discharge he moved to Palm Springs, Calif. where he worked for the General Telephone Company of Calif. (GTE). After retiring from GTE, LaMar relocated to Bullhead City, Ariz., where he started a second career and worked for a decade as a head slot mechanic at the Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino. Upon LaMar's retirement from the Colorado Belle in 1996, he continued to remain active in the community by assisting at the Bullhead City Police Department in the crime photo lab. Concurrently, he also worked as a part-time, on-call Information Specialist at the Laughlin Visitor Information Center until 2009.

~LaMar loved working and interacting with people. His genuine, good-natured and fun-loving personality will best be remembered by everyone he touched.The relationships and friendships he made through the years were deeply meaningful and truly cherished by him.

~LaMar was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Gearld Peterson; grandson, John Joseph Kavachevich.

~LaMar is survived by his wife, Kathleen B. Fie-Peterson; five children, Janice Lynn (Kevin) Ford of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Brian LaMar (Deborah) Peterson of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Charles James Vincent of Provo, Utah, Gearld Scott Peterson of Indio, Calif., Jan Mechelle Peterson, Cathedral City, Calif.; a step-daughter, Alyson (Richard) Evanson, Hatboro, Pa.; sister, Vera (Ronald) Walker, Lindon, Utah; brothers, Merrill Peterson, Pasco, Wash. and Duane (Kimberly) Peterson, Lehi, Utah; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

~A tribute and celebration of LaMar's life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at his home, 1565 Mariposa Way, Bullhead City, Ariz.
