Kerry R. McLenon

1944 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Kerry R. McLenon Obituary
Kerry R. McLenon, age 73 of Monroe, went home to be with the lord on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Born November 27, 1944, in Trenton, Michigan, he was the son of the late Clinton and Beatrice (Springstead) McLenon. Kerry attended Trenton High School, graduating with the class of 1962. He married Patricia (Langford) Braden on February 11, 2013, at Monroe Nazarene Church. Kerry was a life-long hockey player, beginning at the age of seven playing pond hockey in Gibralter, Michigan and, later, proudly played for the New York Ranger's semi-professional team. He continued to play throughout his life until the age of sixty-six. Throughout Kerry's life he attended and completed several trade and training schools. He was employed with DTE Energy, formerly Detroit Edison Company, as a Shift Supervisor for forty-three years. After retiring from DTE, he worked for Wyandotte Municipal Services for five years.
For more than fifty years Kerry was a member of the Masonic Order. He regularly attended the Monroe Nazarene church. Kerry could fix anything and spent many hours restoring hot rods with his sons and was a member of the National Street Rod Association and Goodguys Rod and Custom Association. He loved his current hot rod, a 1937 Ford convertible that he built. Kerry enjoyed studying history, hunting, fishing, traveling "out west," and riding motorcycles.
To cherish his memory, Kerry leaves his loving wife, Patricia Braden-McLenon; three sons: Kerry L. (DiAnna) McLenon of Columbus, Michigan, Darran J. (Heather) McLenon of Monroe, and Rick (Shanel) McLenon of Salt Lake City, Utah; three step children: Steven M. (Tracey) Braden of Rockwood, Brenda (Don) Rice of Southgate, Michigan and Charles W. Jennifer) Braden of Newport; two siblings, Lenore (Mike) Barna of Romulas, Michigan and Mike (Jean) McLenon; and nine grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Tyler) Bastian, Colton McLenon, Casandra (Travis) Gerhardt, Natalie McLenon, Kaitlin Mueller, Nicholas Braden, Dylan Braden and Gaige Braden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank "Buzz" McLenon and Tim McLenon.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI, 48161, where a Memorial service celebrating his life will immediately follow. Rev. Rich Evans, Pastor of Monroe Nazarene Church, will officiate.
Memorial contributions in Kerry's memory are suggested to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association.
