Memories and Condolences
for James Clark

Not sure what to say?

"Mr Clark" I think back to being a kid, watching my 2 brothers or playing myself. Mr Clark will always be the umpire behind the plate. Brings a smile to my face. Our prayers and thoughts to Mikey and the family. Rest in peace.

My sympathies go to all of Jim's family and friends. Both of us were Velo Club members and had connections with UCLA and Sacramento, so we spent a lot of time chatting on bike rides and at coffee afterwards. You knew immediately after meeting him he was a kind and thoughtful gentleman who cherished his family. It was a privilege knowing him. -Dennis Renault, Monterey

I am so blessed to have had you as a Grandpa. These last few days, I have absolutely loved hearing all the stories about you in your younger years. I never knew how similar we were in so many ways! Now I know where I get so many of my favorite traits from! I love you Grandpa. Can't wait to see you again someday.

I have spent countless hours with Jim, on the telephone, at his home or on a baseball field discussing ideas and solving problems to improve the quality of Seaside Pony Baseball. He was a "peacemaker" in life, therefore, it is fitting that he passed away peacefully in death. Thanks for being a part of my life, Jim and may you Rest in Peace.

Condolences to all of you. I had worked with Jim at NEPRF, NOARL, and NRL. I smart, fine gentleman. I remember when he starts up his bike riding (again I believe) and he would do 30 min non the stationary, then more, and more, until he was doing the centuries. He was great to work with, and the team of him, Roland, Steve, Pim et al. were magnificent.
I'll always treasure the memories.

Dear Mary and family so sorry for your loss! Your father was truly an amazing man! Nothing would stop him from riding his bicycle. When we were younger we had some pretty competitive bike rides!! Jim had an office across the hallway from me when I first came to work at the Navy Lab in Monterey, where he welcomed me as a new colleague and as a fellow cyclist. Jim was part of the noon-time rides that a group of us would take up to Marina, Ft Ord, etc. I have many memories but above all I will remember his 50th wedding anniversary celebration with his friends and family. Jim, thank you for your kindness and friendship over the years.

I was always amazed to be bike riding with Jim on a Saturday morning and learn that while I was going to spend my afternoon on the sofa, he'd be umpiring several baseball games. Amazing and wonderful person and I am proud to have known him.

Hi Dad,
The whole family is so sad but we're working together to plan a wonderful Celebration of Life for you. Mom is being strong and were all keeping an eye on her for you. She loved you so much and took such good care of you these past few years. She picked out a beautiful location for you under a big oak tree at San Carlos and the ballpark is right across from you. Reminds me of the tree in our front yard! You probably know already but both the Raiders and A's won for you this weekend. How 'bout that? We've been putting pictures together of you and it's comforting to see all of the beautiful memories of your 82 years of life. Your an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will live in all of us forever. I miss you so much Dad...Love Joe

Jim was quite a rider. He was a very good hill climber even in to his later years. He was an inspiration to us all & we miss seeing him on the rides or at coffee when he wasn't riding with us any longer.

Jim often appeared in front of me on the second half of the Saturday Morning Ride - just when I was exhausted and couldn't keep up with the group. He kindly and graciously pulled me back to Pacific Grove. He was also very proud of his daughter Mary, my kids' swim coach, who taught so many kids to swim, compete, work hard, and always do their best.

On a SMR Jim and I didn't stop at the last regroup point at Pebble Beach Lodge but rode on, alternating pulling/drafting. Jim was so happy that we never got caught and made it back to PG first. He talked about that victory for a long time.
It was great riding with Jim several times a week and I miss that a lot. Jim was always great company, not competitive, just enjoyed going out for a nice casual ride just because he loved to ride.
I'm very blessed to have rode many a wonderful ride with Jim and am cetain he will be keeping an eye on us to keep us safe on our travels :-)

I didn't know about Jim's passing; thank you so much for the notification. I very much enjoyed many years of riding with Jim; he was such a trooper and I always admired his tenacity. When he and I would get dropped, we always enjoyed sticking together; he was such a gem!! I'm happy to share with his wife how much I enjoyed him. I truly feel empathy with her grief; he was an amazing cyclist, brilliant and accomplished gentleman! May Peace be with you all; it seems like just yesterday that I buried my own father, and it seems time will never heal the loss. Sincerely, with love,

I rode with Jim in the Velo Club while he was still actively doing longer rides. He was very generous with his knowledge of the sport and enthusiastically helped all the newer people. It was his friendly demeanor that attracted me to the sport of cycling. He will be missed.

I am a newer VELO CLUB cyclist so I did not have the pleasure of riding with Jim but I did have the pleasure of sharing coffee with him at East Village after a Saturday morning ride. It was inspiring to see his enthusiasm for the sport of cycling. May we all stay so loyal!....... Vera Noghera
