Alfred Apostrofe was born on April 27, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts,
and peacefully left us on January 16, 2004. He is survived by his
beloved wife Anna, of Monterey, his daughter Vicki, son-in-law Gary
Lawrence and grandson Nicholas of Marina, daughter Mary Ann and
grandsons Jon, Adam, and Stephen of Del Rey Oaks, daughter Annette,
son-in-law Pete De Pasquale and grandchildren Marisa, Peter, and Alexa
of Clovis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaetano and Mary, and by his
sister Anna Marie Aiello. Alfred moved to California with his family in the 1940‚s, where they eventually built the Paramount Motel in Marina. Besides his dedication to the family business, he was also enlisted in the US Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Montague and had a career as a meat cutter and manager of Safeway. He was a parishioner of San Carlos
Cathedral and a member of the Italian Catholic Federation Br. 36,
Monterey. Alfred was fortunate to have celebrated over 50 years of marriage to his dedicated and loving wife. Al loved visits from his daughters and
grandkids, weekly visits from Father Felix, taking care of his garden, Sunday pasta dinner at 12 noon sharp, occasional trips to the grocery store and the produce market and watching the San Francisco Giants on TV. What will be missed most of all will be his delicious homecooked
meals. They always managed to put a smile on anyone who had the pleasure
of dining in Al‚s kitchen. The family would like to thank Dr. Rubin, the Infusion Center, Community
Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and all of the countless efforts of
friends and family members who have given their support in this time of
need. The family is requesting any donations be sent to San Carlos
Cathedral‚s Loaves and Fishes Ministry or to the charity of choice.
