In Loving Memory Bernard F. Mraz, Sr. January 4, 1930 ~ November 7, 2012 MONTEREY - Bernard Mraz, Sr., 82, of Marina, CA, passed away on November 7, 2012 at Forest Hill Manor of Pacific Grove, CA due to declining health. He was born to Edward and Helen Mraz on January 4, 1930 in Canton, OH. Bernard is survived by his brother, Paul Mraz; sister, Mary Alice Kirby; sons, Bernard, Jr. and Edward; daughter, Rowena Intagliata; grandchildren, Brittany Fuentes and Justin Mraz; and great grandchildren, Michael and Misa Fuentes. While serving in the military in Japan, Bernard married Yuriko Mraz of Sapporo, Japan. They moved to Fort Sill, OK. Bernard served in the U.S. Army
from 1948 until June, 1969, as a Master Sergeant. He made the Monterey Peninsula his home when he was stationed at Fort Ord, CA in 1963. He served overseas during the Vietnam War
in Thailand from 1968 until 1969. After his retirement from the military, he had several careers as a Maintenance Engineer until he started his last career with Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula until he retired. Known affectionately as "Slim", Bernard was an avid gun collector and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He loved target shooting and being with his friends at all veterans' activities and other gun clubs in the Monterey Peninsula area. He loved his country and his family. After his wife passed away in 2003, he was still active in all of the clubs and organizations he belonged to. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed. Services for Bernard Mraz, Sr. will be at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside, CA on November 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
