Dolores Roemmer July 4, 1923 ~ November 4, 2012 MONTEREY - Dolores Roemmer passed away on November 4, 2012. She was born on July 4, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois and was a long-time resident of Monterey. Dolores is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Roemmer; her children, Richard and Leslie Roemmer, Ann and Alan Thomas and James and Claudia Roemmer; her grandchildren, Tanya, Nikki, Christopher, Carly, Casey, Brit and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Tilor, Miles and Charlotte; siblings, Richard Sippel, Barbara Kiefer and Susan McKittrick. Her brother, George Sippel, predeceased her. Dolores led a life filled with adventure, having lived in Austria, Germany, Thailand and Turkey with her family, as the wife of a career Army officer. After moving to Monterey, she volunteered with the UNICEF Shop in Carmel for 22 years. She will be remembered and missed for her warmth, generosity, compassion, creativity and great sense of style. A special thanks to Dr. Jerome Rubin; the outstanding compassionate nurses at Terrace West, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula; and the Visiting Nurses Association, especially Jana.
