PACIFIC GROVE – George Withee was a World War II
Veteran, who proudly served his country flying B29 aircraft, and was one of the pilots who flew the last air bombardment mission over Japan, during which the end of the war was announced. George went to work for United Airlines in 1946, and moved to Pacific Grove with his family in 1955 to work at the Monterey Airport. He retired in 1983.
George was predeceased by his wife Esther, and his stepson Stephen Perkins. He is survived by his daughter, Geordie Wright, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
George requested that there be no services, but he would be honored to have donations made in his name to a Veterans organization of your choice.
