"There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle;
you can live as if everything is a miracle." ~ Einstein
Linda (Gaches, Holt, Coleman) Aspinwall
September 8, 1948 ~ December 16, 2012
CARMEL VALLEY - Linda (Gaches, Holt, Coleman) Aspinwall was born on September 8, 1948 in Santa Rosa, California. In 1960 she and her family moved to Monterey which began a lifelong love affair with the Peninsula. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1966. For over 40 years, Linda has called Carmel Valley sweet home, and for more than 30 years she and Bill nurtured a loving and devoted marriage in their hamlet of Carmel Valley. She called their love the cherry on top of her life!
One day, Bill commented that she should find a career that enabled her to talk on the phone. That led to a brilliant success in Real Estate. At the height of the market, Linda joined Coldwell Banker and never looked back. Her many achievements included the John Leo award and the International President's Elite Award.
For seven spectacular years Linda and Bill split their time between two great loves, Carmel Valley and North Lake Tahoe. In each Bill and Linda created a warm and welcome paradise. They enjoyed a life filled with love and fun that would not be surpassed.
28 months ago, Linda was diagnosed with non-smoking related lung cancer. She battled the disease without complaint and without allowing her passion for life to dull. She embraced her illness with grace, fearless courage and wisdom. She lived, loved and laughed extracting preciousness from every moment.
Each of Linda's children: Megan (Jason), Dylan (Kelly), and Rachel (Erik), as well as her beloved grandchildren Alex, Aden, Isaac, Danielle, Abigail, Quinn, and Mali will hold close the memory of her creativity, her love of all beauty, her spectacular ability to nurture, her incredible flair in the kitchen, her protective mothering and her hilarious wit and sense of humor. Linda is also survived by her two sisters, Bonnie Trigg and twin sister, Cory Jones.
In typical Linda fashion she chose to embrace the quality of life rather than its quantity. Through that choice, a miracle of time occurred that allowed her to beat the odds in ways that surpassed all that was expected.
On December 16, 2012, Linda passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Save the Rain (www.savetherain.org
), a very special nonprofit organization close to Linda's heart. Created by her son, his wife and their family, the organization brings clean drinking water to impoverished villages in Africa.
Instead of mourning her passing, she wanted you to celebrate her life. Please join us for a memorial celebration on January 6, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Holman Ranch, Carmel Valley.
