MONTEREY – Lovie Abernathy, 87, passed away Friday, January 11, 2008. Lovie was born in New Road, Louisiana, to Cyril and Mary Demoulin. She ran the Tyson family household for over 40 years. She was a parishioner of San Carlos Cathedral. Lovie loved working in her garden and fresh vegetables. She also loved going to bingo, fishing at San Antonio Lake and gambling trips to Reno or Las Vegas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all eleven of her siblings.
   She is survived by her husband of 40 years, James Sr.; daughters, Karen and Theresa; stepson, James Jr. (Christine); Dwayne (Carla); and Lydon. Lovie is also survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lawrence Sr.; nephew, Lawrence Jr. (Darlene); nieces, Lorraine, Bonnie and Shirley (Clive), and host of family and friends who loved her.
   Rosary will be held Thursday, January 17, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at Mission Mortuary in Monterey. Funeral Mass will be at St. Francis Xavier Church in Seaside on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Mission Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
