Milton M. Bristow(1929 - 2014)

Carmel, CA – Mel Bristow passed away after a long illness. He was born in Eugene, OR and served in the Army during the Korean War. He earned BS and MS degrees at University of Oregon, and taught Oceanography and Geology at Monterey Peninsula College for many years. His famous field trips to Yosemite were a highlight for his students. Mel was a man of many interests, excelling in whatever he pursued from mushing dog sleds in Alaska to playing and teaching polo. He especially enjoyed flying with friends somewhere for lunch in his Cessna 180.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; step-daughter, Jen Ortiz; sons, Steve Bristow and Milt Bristow; and daughters, Dana Prevost and Laurie Smith; three grandchildren, Connor, Duncan, and Stacey; and one great-grandchild, Trevor.
A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
