SEASIDE - Always known for his warm smile, Steve Demayo, 62, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2012.

With Steve's friendly personality, it was no surprise that he spent 35 years working in the hospitality industry on the Monterey Peninsula. He was a familiar face for many years at local establishments including Quail Lodge, Wills Fargo and The Outrigger. In recent years, he transitioned into another career that matched his outgoing nature, car sales. He worked at Butts Motors and alongside his brother, Richard, at Demayo Auto Sales.

One of his favorite past times was bowling and he spent many years perfecting his game on various leagues at Lincoln Lanes. He was also well-known for his love of photography and enjoyed capturing the fun times he spent with his loved ones.

Steve graduated from Monterey High School in 1968 and attended Monterey Peninsula College. Immediately upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged after four years and was stationed in Korea during his service.

Steve loved life and lived it to the fullest, but he loved his family even more. Steve is survived by his mother, Avelina Demayo of Seaside; his sons, Darren of Phoenix, Arizona and Justin of Carmel Valley; former spouse, Janice Harrop Demayo of Phoenix; sister, Josephine Haught of Seaside; brothers, George (Dyessie) of San Jose, Richard (Kelly) of Prunedale and Alex (Julie) of Marina.
