Barbara Ann Hawkins Obituary
Seaside, ca – Barbara Hawkins passed away on November 17, 2013. She was 80. Barb was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 20, 1933 to Maurice and Opal Soule. She was an Army wife for 20 years and a meteorology computer programmer in the private and public sectors for an additional 21 years until retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her husband, Laurence (Larry) R. Hawkins, Jr.; daughter, Ann (Eric) Watkins; son, Larry (Mary) Hawkins; grandchildren, Katie (Matt) Logan, Ryan (Callie) Clark Kaden Watkins; and great grandson, Jamison Clark. Barb is also survived by her sister, Dorothy M. Jacobs, and brother, Harvey (Alice) Soule. She was preceded in death by her sister, Louise (Robert) Gubanc.
Barb attended Mount Vernon grade school in Adams Township (Toledo suburb), Ohio, graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in Toledo, where she was an A Cappella Choir member and pianist, and National Honor Society member. She attended the University of Toledo, and Monterey Peninsula College. She and her mother were members of the Pythian Sisterhood.
Her family and friends wish to thank everyone at Carmel Hills Care Center, and Dr. Richard E. King for their care and professional services.
A memorial service will be held on December 7, 2013 at 2:00pm at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 52 Soledad Dr., Monterey.
