Barbara Beers Neubert Obituary
PEBBLE BEACH – Barbara Beers Neubert, 92, of Pebble Beach, passed away on May 17, 2013 in Monterey. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Church in Pacific Grove on Thursday May 23, 2013 at 2:00pm. Burial will be on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00am at The Monterey City Cemetery.
Barbara was born in East Lancing, Michigan to Royce and Edith Beers on March 25, 1921. After graduating high school, Barbara volunteered at Children's Hospital of Michigan then attended Michigan State University (MSU). At MSU she met her husband and love of her life on a blind date, fellow student Bernard E. Neubert. They eloped to Bryan, Ohio. After graduation, "Barney" commenced a distinguished US Army officer career taking the family on many adventures overseas and throughout the states. Barbara was part of the first entourage of military wives to sail to Italy after the end of World War II. Years later the Neubert family made their second home abroad in Taiwan. As a young military wife, Barbara raised 4 children while traveling the world and country. Barney retired as Lt. Col. and the couple settled in Monterey in 1957.
Barbara was a full time loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to garden, play bridge, and spend quality time with her close friends and family. She enjoyed the friends she made as a volunteer at St. Mary's Church Thrift Shop in Pacific Grove. Barbara was a humble and accomplished financial investor, avidly reading her Barron's, Financial Times, and Wall Street Journal daily. Barbara was most happy with her little dog Buddy at her side and socializing with friends and family.
Barbara's husband Barney, her son Michael, and her daughter Edee precede her in passing. Barbara's loving memories will be cherished by her daughter Michelle of Monterey, son David of Austin, ten grand children, nine great-grandchildren, and Buddy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army or Senior Legal Services. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Healey Mortuary, The Park Lane, Monterey Community Hospital, and Austin Heart Hospital.
