Edward Abraham McGlochlin Obituary
CARMEL VALLEY, CA – Edward McGlochlin passed away March 2, 2014 at the age of 92. He was born in Glenwood Springs, CO. At the age of eight, he moved to Glasgow, MT where he graduated from high school. Ed moved to Santa Monica, where he became a mechanic at Douglas Aircraft. He then asked his sweetheart, Dolores Engstrom from Glasgow to come west and marry him. During WWII, he served as an Army training sergeant at Camp Roberts. After the war, Ed and family settled in Woodland Hills, CA where he opened an auto repair business. In 1960, they moved to Pacific Grove where he opened Forest Hill Auto Service and later built a home in Carmel Valley. Ed was an active member of the Pacific Grove Rotary Club until his retirement in 1987. He was an antique car enthusiast and was a member of the Salinas Antique Car Club and Good Restored As of the Monterey Peninsula (GRAMPA). During his life he restored and showed many antique cars. He enjoyed touring the countryside with other antique cars owners and providing advice on car restorations. Ed and his family were also active in the Carmel Valley Trail and Saddle Club.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dolores; son, Bruce (Marcia) McGlochlin; daughters, Joan McGlochlin, Linda (Roger) McGlochlin Wolff, and Laurie (Larry) Picha; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David McGlochin, who was killed in the Vietnam War.
We wish to thank Nita Hughes for her loving care of Ed for the last two years, and the staff of VNA Hospice for their skill and kindness.
A memorial service celebrating Edward's life will be held on April 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Carmel Valley Trail and Saddle Club.
