I first met James in San Bruno while I was on vacation. James was selling newspapers in the front entrance of the El Camino theater in San Bruno where I had gotten a summer job. James and I befriended each other and we hit it off. It was the summer of 1952. It was also my first time to visit California. We hung out a lot. He introduced me to my first game of golf and my first 3-D movie. He was the nicest young man I had ever met and to this day I have never forgotten the friendship and fun we shared together. I never heard James say a curse word, smoke, get angry, or speak ill of anyone. I will miss him more than words can express. God bless you James.

Dear Jackie
I was truly saddened to learn of Jim's passing. I will always remember the wonderful times we spent together in Carmel. His obituary in the SF paper is a true representation of this honorable man.
If there is any thing I can do, please call me. It has been way to long.
Please accept my deepest sympathy and prayers,
Jack Ripsteen

It was with much sadness that I have heard of Jim’s passing. It was a pleasure working with Jim over these last few years; he was so very knowledgeable and a great teacher. He will be sadly missed by us all at Tetra Pak CPS.
I send you and your family my deepest condolences. Graham Archer

Our hearts are filled with sadness. We have had Jackie and Jim and the whole family in our thoughts and prayers. Jim was a truly wonderful person. Our most favorite recent memory is of Jim crossing the finish line - first in his age group - in the 2008 New Mexico Turkey Trot. We will miss him. Jackie, we love you.
