Napoleon Dawson Jr. Obituary
MARINA, CA – Napoleon Dawson, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the home of his beloved younger sister, Linda Dawson-Garner, at the fulfilling age of 57.
Napoleon Dawson, Jr. was born on February 17, 1957 at Fort Riley, Kansas, the eldest child of Napoleon Dawson and Kiyoko Tokuda Dawson. He was followed by a younger sister, and grew up in Seaside, California. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps for 16 years, and after this, he served in the Hawaiian National Guard for four years. He also worked for U.S. Customs in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Napoleon possessed lightheartedness and an infectious joviality that could light up a room and will be missed dearly. His resilience and his pure curiosity, his desire to know more were just some of his most defining traits. He possessed love for the simple things, he loved food and animals. He enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his youngest son, Nicholas, who was one of the many joys of his life. He was determined, and he believed in and inspired the potential and the greatness of those he was surrounded by.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, and his children's mother, Carolann.
He is survived by his younger sister, Linda-Dawson Garner; his children, Napoleon III, Chanelle, and Nicholas; his grandchildren, Nehemiah and Chanya; and many nephews and nieces, including his first nephew, Hiroshi and his first grand-niece, Alyssa.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Hawaii.
Arrangements are by Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street. To offer online condolences: www.altavistamortuary.com.
