CARMEL VALLEY, CA – Virginia E. Crawford, age 88, died peacefully on February 21, 2014. She is survived by her son, Mark Crawford; daughter-in-law, Kim and grandsons, Chris and Sean. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Egan Holcomb of Minnetonka, MN and cousins, Marcia Campbell Wolf of Pebble Beach, CA, Todd Egan of Winnetka, IL and Frances Egan Anamosa of Napa, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Crawford in 1975.|
Ginny was born in Chicago on November 20, 1925 to Ellis and Lucille (Geurtin) Egan. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1942 and The University of Illinois in 1946, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She earned her Masters degree in English Literature in 1947, teaching at the University of Illinois and earned her Doctorate in Law at the University of San Francisco in 1984. She practiced law in St. Paul, Minnesota for 10 years before returning to Carmel Valley in 1998.
The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at the Carmel Hills Care Center and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Ginny during her final year.
A memorial service celebrating Ginny's life will be held at 11:00 AM on April 26, 2014 at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 28005 Robinson Canyon Road, Carmel Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ginny's name are preferred to the SPCA for Monterey County or the donor's favorite charity.
