Anne Odette Call Obituary
Anne Odette Call
1918 ~ 2013

YOUNTVILLE, CA – Anne Odette Call died on April 23, 2013 at age 95 at the Veterans Home of California in Yountville after a brief illness. She was born to Rene and Suzanne (Alix) Hericourt in Great Neck, New York on March 26, 1918 where she was raised with her five siblings.
Anne Odette served in the United States Army Nurses Corp (3rd General Hospital) during World War II, where she met then Captain Jack Call (15th Air Force) during their service in Tunisia, where they were married on April Fool's Day 1944. They returned to California after the War. Their marriage ended with Jack's death in February of 2004, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.
She spent 66 years in Carmel raising her children, Brian and Janet, and dedicating her time and considerable talents to the Eskaton Auxiliary, Stevenson Sponsors Club, the PEO Sisterhood, the Carmel Mission, All Saints Episcopal Church and St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church. Anne Odette never met a gardening, woodworking, clay, stained glass or craft project that she did not pursue with unbridled passion. She continued to pursue ceramics and creative arts at the California Veteran's Home in Yountville, where she moved in March of 2010.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Galen) of Carmel and their children, Weston and Andrew and her daughter, Janet of Redding and her children, Stuart Park (Alicia, and their son, Taylor) and Sam Stapleton.
Anne Odette certainly missed her friends and family on the Monterey Peninsula, but truly enjoyed the many new friends she made at the Veteran's Home in Yountville. Her family is exceedingly grateful for all those who provided for her care at the Veteran's Home, particularly the nurses and staff on Ward 1B.
A Service of Remembrance was held at the Veteran's Home on May 9, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church (28003 Robinson Canyon Road, Carmel Valley, CA) on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
The family would suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Veterans Home of California - Yountville for the benefit of the Creative Arts Program (100 California Drive, Yountville, CA 94599) or to St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, for the benefit of the Learning Center (P.O. Box 101, Carmel Valley, CA 93924).
