Barbara Gee January 19, 1939 ~ December 25, 2012 MONTEREY - Barbara Gee, 73, passed away December 25, 2012 after living with cancer for 16 years. She was born January 19, 1939 in New York City to Dorothy and Barnet Naiman. She attended Bates College and graduated from
University of Michigan
with a BA and MA in sociology. She moved to the Monterey Peninsula with her former husband and children in 1974. She was a longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula (UUCMP). For many years she taught English as a Second Language to elementary children in the MPUSD. Barbara was an avid quilter, reader, and singer. She loved Baroque music, her cats and her grandchildren, and was devoted to liberal politics and social justice. When she was physically able, she had enjoyed tennis, swimming, hiking and cross-country skiing. She leaves behind her dear husband of 28 years, Bill Gee; her beloved children, Erik Bloom (Yolanda Quintero) of Rockville, MD, Andi Bloom Barnett (David Barnett) of Los Altos; and her four cherished grandchildren, David and Alejandro Bloom and Jonah and Hannah Barnett.
