Marina, CA – George E. Baker, age 87, passed away peacefully among friends and family on June 29, 2013. George served in the U.S. Army, retiring from the 503rd Engineers Company 7th Army after 20 years. He later worked as a chef at various local restaurants and hotels, including several years at the Pine Inn of Carmel, CA. Over the last four decades, George was best known for volunteering much of his time helping others in the Marina area learn about the Bible.
One of seven children, George was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie and his sisters, Lorraine and Alene. George is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jessie Baker; his brother, Donald and sisters, Lucille and Afton. He also leaves behind six children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His beloved children are: Thomas Baker, Kenneth Baker, Joan Gooder, Linda Babbage; stepdaughter, Judy Ferrante and adopted son, Michael Baker. He loved all of them very much.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 1:30pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3319 Abdy Way in Marina.
