James Anthony Breaux, Sr.
February 25, 1933 ~ August 26, 2006

MARINA – James Anthony Breaux, Sr., 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on August 26, 2006.
   He retired from the U.S. Army in 1977, after 27 years of service, at the rank of Master Sergeant. He served as a faithful member of St. Jude's Catholic Church and St. Jude's and St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank. He was a charter member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of
Columbus, St. Jude's Council 7155, and also a member of the Santa Rosalia Fourth Degree Assembly.
   Breaux was a member of the American Legion Monterey Cypress Unit 694, The Retired Enlisted Association, and the California State Sheriff's Association. His love for golf led him to spend many hours as a starter and golfer on the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course.
   James was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Breaux, Sr., his mother, Evelina Pleasant Breaux, five brothers and one sister. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years, Hazel Cecilia Walker Breaux; sons, James, Jr. (Andreia) of San Antonio, TX; Michael (Vera) of Greenfield, CA and a daughter, Shari LaStrape of Marina, CA; grandchildren Ray, Jr., Marcus, Andrew, Tiffany, Christopher and Daniel; two brothers, Clarence and Lawrence and one sister, Helen Breaux; three brothers-in-law, Emmitt Jones (Anita), Stanford and Daniel Walker; sisters-in-law, Clara and Theresa Breaux and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
   Visitation will be held at the Seaside Funeral Home, 1610 Noche Buena Street, Seaside, CA 93955, Friday, September 1, 2006 from 12 noon to 8 p.m., with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 303 Hill Crest Avenue, Marina at 12 p.m. Committal service will be at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Avenue, Seaside.
   Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seaside Funeral Home.
