Joan F. Greenwell|
1931 ~ 2012
SEASIDE - Joan Frances Greenwell was born to the union of James Winston Cass and Sarah Davis in Fort Worth, TX December 19, 1931. Joan was the second of seven children with five brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by her father in 1974 and her brother, Billy Eugene Cass, who was called to his creator in January 2008. Joan asked the Lord to come into her life at the early age of 14 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Worth.
In the summer of 1950 on July 31, William Greenwell and Joan Cass were forever linked in holy matrimony for a total of 61 years of marital bliss. Joan and Williams (Weeum) enjoyed travel during his military service, making their home in Ewa Beach, Hawaii and Wildflecken, Germany.
Joan became the Treasurer for the First Baptist Church of Pacific Grove in 1970 under Reverend Richard Nance. Joan was ordained in 1998 where she served her church faithfully as a Deaconess under Reverend James Callaway. She went on to serve as a Deaconess at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor ML Carter. Joan also received a Certificate of Life Membership from the NAACP.
Joan was a loving wife (Dumplin), mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother who spent countless hours with her family nurturing, teaching, loving, disciplining and protecting them. Joan taught us all the meaning of three things that were vital to a life fulfilled; unconditional love, faith and charity. She truly believed that we were blessed and should be grateful to the Lord for every precious minute we serve him. Joan served him well and our heavenly father called her home on February 3, 2012.
Joan leaves to celebrate her life and home-going: her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, William Greenwell; six children, Dwight (Jacqueline), William, Jr. (Michelle), David (Lisa), Gerald (Toni), Joy (Greg Bryant), Michael (Gwynn); 22 grandchildren: Stacy, Tabatha, Raven, Patrice, Patricia, William, Samuel, Joseph, David, Erick, Sara I., Michael, Elisha, Sara A., Cory, Shivon, Katherine, Anjelica, Aubriea, Joshua, Jordan, and Kaylah; nine great grandchildren: Omar, Onassis, Samara, Malachi, Gianna, Makai, Shayla, Alonte, Mark, with Gregory Scott Daniels III on the way shortly; her mother of 100 wonderful years, Sarah Cass; her brothers, Clyde E., Marvin O., James W., Jr., Wendell L. and her sister, Patricia K.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
