Michel Nicola Obituary
June 1, 1930 ~ September 7, 2010
MONTEREY - Michel Nicola, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on September 7, 2010.
He was born in Lebanon and immigrated to the United States in 1967 to become a professor of science at Shimer College in Illinois. He was a teacher of Arabic at the Defense Language Institute for 25 years until he retired in 2006. Throughout his life, he avidly pursued many eclectic literary, philosophical and scientific interests.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eva; his son, Peter of Sunnyvale; his son, Saleem and granddaughter, Sonali of Harrison, NY; and sister, Julia of Sydney, Australia. His wisdom, patience and sharp intellect are sorely missed.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held in October. His family extends a special thanks to Dr. Shehab Saddy, the VNA Hospice and his caregivers during his long illness, Veronica, Leslie and Elma.
