Phil Stanley "Stan" Wood
May 25, 1945 ~ January 13, 2017
Corral de Tierra, California
Stan Wood died on January 13, 2017 at the age of 71. Born in Sierra Madre, California and raised in Long Beach, CA, he ran a successful coin laundry business called Coin Meter West. Stan was a member of the Long Beach Yacht Club, the Tuna Club, and Rotary Club. He enjoyed skiing and sailing in his younger years, and even participated in the Transpac sailing race to Honolulu in 1979. He enjoyed taking his family to Catalina on his boat "The Reel One."
In 1988, Stan purchased 40 acres in Corral De Tierra, California, moving there full time in 1999. He began a "retirement" job of growing lavender on the property which he turned into a thriving business, Purple Pastures Lavender Farm.
Stan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bette; his children, Todd, Allison and Amy and four grandchildren. He will also be missed by his faithful Bernese mountain dog, Boadie, who has been by his side the past six years.
Stan served in the Marine Corps Reserves for six years, based in Camp Pendleton. He forever respected our armed forces and would appreciate assisting them and their families. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to assist wounded warriors via the Semper Fi Fund, https://semperfifund.org/donate/.

Dear Bette and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know he will be missed. Stan was always so good to me. I heard he was not doing well but did nit realize it was so serious. He always seemed to bounce back. Kicking myself now for letting so much time go by without coming by. I will miss my friend Stan,

To Stan's family, I am sorry for your loss. I saw Stan a few years ago and he invited me up to your ranch as he always did when I would see him. He was very gracious in his invitation and I am sorry I didn't take him up on it. May he rest in peace.

Bette, Todd, Allison and Amy had the blessing of a loving, caring man in their lives. We shared that blessing many years ago and in more recent years of contact. We did not know that Stan was ill - so sorry that we were not there to offer support to the family. We wish you ongoing success with Purple Pastures, as it will continue to bring Stan happiness, the same happiness and contentment he expressed when we saw him. We continue to purchase your product....thank you, God Bless Bob and Dixie

Bette,
We just heard about the passing of Stan today. We were shocked to know of his grave condition just last month. We do believe he was a fighter!
As my cousin he was always the life of the party and I am sure he will continue that reputation in heaven. My father Clyde will welcome him with open arms!
I know he was a dear husband, father and grandfather.
