SACRAMENTO – Robert Morris Banks, 74, was born May 21, 1932 in Winnsboro, SC, the son of the late Ceasar and Susie Gayden Banks. Robert went to be with Jesus on September 4, 2006 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Robert served 22 years in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in Vietnam and received many other honorable awards. Robert retired from the Army in 1974 at Fort Ord, CA. and began his career in Real Estate. He was a long-time resident of Seaside, CA and loved returning to the Monterey Peninsula for any occasion. Robert moved to Sacramento in January 2000. The loving memories are left to his loving "wife" Yvette Banks (Antelope, CA), and their six children, 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; his daughter, Susie Jacobs of Seaside; his son David Banks (Michele) of Middletown, RI; his daughter Nancy Banks (James Campbell) of Cupertino, CA; his daughter Linda Driffin (Travis) of Helendale, CA; his daughter Carol Mims (Donald, Jr.) of Antelope; his son Francis Banks (Donna) of Antelope. Robert also leaves behind his brother David Banks (Julia Ann) of Shelby, NC; his two sisters, Willie Mae Banks of Greensboro, NC and Johnnie Mae Mosby (Edward) of Greensboro; his sisters-in-law, Nettie Banks of Mitchellville, MD, Lauranette Banks of Greensboro and Hilda Banks of Goldsboro, NC; and his brother and sister-in-law Maurice Joscht (Nicole) of Nancy, France; and sister-in-law Monique Hencke of Marbache, France.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 from 3-5pm at Seaside Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm at St. Angela's Catholic Church, 146 8th St., Pacific Grove, CA 93950, also on Monday. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at St. Angela's, with burial following at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside, CA 93955. A reception will be held at Susie Jacobs home, 5016 Pacific Crest Dr. in Seaside.
