Terry Williams Obituary
CEDARVILLE, CA – Terry Williams passed away at the Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, January 29, 2014, after a brief illness.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 33 years, Tonia; a daughter, Heather Fichter; two grandsons, Ben and Lucas; brothers, Ron, Jann and Dana; as well as many other relatives.
Terry was born in Portola, California in 1936. He went to school in Lakeview and Eagle Point, Oregon and in Alturas, Redding and Bieber, California. After some college and a brief time in San Francisco working for the phone company, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, trained at Ft. Ord and served in Iceland.
Upon leaving the Army, he went to work for the Postal Service in Monterey, California, married his first wife and had a daughter. He later became Postmaster of Gonzales, California for several years, and then Postmaster of Carmel Valley, California for 12 years, where he met his wife, Tonia, a postal clerk.
After retiring in 1991, Terry and Tonia moved to Surprise Valley, California, where they had a home built and have lived ever since.
Terry was always very active in community organizations and conservation groups and was a Modoc County Supervisor for one term in the 1990s.
Terry loved hunting and fishing, rock-hounding, exploring back roads, reading, playing cards and being with his dogs. He was greatly loved and will be hugely missed by many.
There will be no services as per his wishes.
