SEASIDE - Imelda Ragasa Barta, 72, passed away May 28, 2010 at Pacific Grove Convalescent Hospital after a long struggle with pancreatitis complications. She was born in Kalayaan, Laguna in Luzon, Philippines on January 5, 1938 to Hermogenes and Maria (Valbuena) Ragasa, and was the fifth of six children. She arrived in the U.S. in 1978 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1985. She was married to Stanley F. Barta in 1987. Always a hard worker, she was a banquet waitress for over 30 years in several Monterey hotels. She was a licensed beautician and owned her own beauty salon for 20 years. She was also an Avon representative for over 30 years. She was a member of the Filipino-American Club in Marina, the Filipino Cultural Society, the Laoaguenian Society of Monterey County, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Choir in Seaside. An avid bingo player she enjoyed trips to Reno, Las Vegas and other casinos as well as going on cruises, along with her husband and she enjoyed ballroom dancing and aerobics.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Stanley; her sister, Luningning Moral of Manila; four sons, Sam, George, Ken and Frank Cuaderno; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends in the U.S., Philippines and Australia.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel at Mission Memorial Park.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church with Commital at Mission Memorial Park.
