Carolyn Stanley Graham
December 14, 1922 ~ September 26, 2010

CARMEL, CA - Carolyn Stanley Graham passed away peacefully September 26, 2010 at the age of 87. She was born December 14, 1922 in Santa Monica, California.
Carolyn retired to Carmel in 1988. She became an active member in the Gentrain Society of MPC, her neighborhood association, and volunteered for the League of Women Voters. In later years, she was particularly attached to her many friends at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula. As a member, Carolyn initiated the popular Circle Suppers, helped with the newsletter and was a participant in many of the church's activities.
Never at a loss for a good joke, Carolyn's good nature and optimism, mixed with a dash of her own brand of whimsy was an inspiration to her family and the countless friends she accumulated over the course of her adventurous life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Walter W. Graham of Gurnee, Illinois. She is survived by her sister, Laura Shirley Atterbury, of Oceanside; daughters, Seana Ann Graham of Santa Cruz, Stephanie Robin Graham of San Rafael, and Julie Graham Zeiden of Pacific Palisades, and her grandchildren Graham Evan Mann, Liam Daniel Zeiden, and Olivia Caroline Zeiden. Very special thanks to her devoted caregiver and friend, Gail Hannigan-Winfield.
Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, or Jamal Place, Inc. in Chicago, IL.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula at 1:00 p.m. on November 20, 2010.

I was so glad to be able to see Carolyn a few times in recent years. She was a wonderful woman, and I know she'll be missed by the family, of course, but also by her community in Carmel. Our thoughts are with her many friends and family members.
