Anneliese Reynolds Obituary
WALNUT?CREEK, CA – Anneliese Hildegard Reynolds passed away May 27, 2014. She was born March 17, 1926 to Erich and Augusta Schroeder in Wuppertal, Germany.
She was a dental hygienist and during WWII, met Army Staff Sergeant George L. Reynolds when he came in for a filling. They married in 1957 and settled in Seaside, CA, where she lived for over 40 years. George Reynolds died in 1983 after almost 26 years of marriage.
She was very active in her church, first with the Seaside Church of Christ and later with the San Pablo Avenue Church of Christ in Oakland. She loved to volunteer and did missionary work until her late 70s. She was an exceptional knitter and would often knit layette sets as gifts for newborns at her church. Beloved by many children in her community, she was known by all as "Oma" (German for grandmother).
She enjoyed good coffee, tending her beautiful rose garden, spending time with her family and pets, reading a good book and indulging in sweets. She loved to travel and toured extensively throughout Europe, favoring walking tours of cathedrals, museums, and gardens. And it was in Australia where she saw her favorite animal, the Koala bear, in person.
Of all the jobs she held during her life, her favorite was that of a wife, homemaker and mother. She is survived by her children, James Reynolds, Warren Reynolds, Larry Reynolds, Reginald Reynolds, Terrance Reynolds, Kenya Danielsen, and Patrice Reynolds; and grandchildren, George, Jared and Angie Reynolds; Warren Jr., Christopher and Timothy Reynolds; Kimberly Reynolds; Rebekah Reynolds; Eliese Leiataua; Erik, Klarissa, and Trent Young; Fikile, Evangeline, and Tallulah Grace Burger; and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Karl-Heinz Schroeder.
There will be a viewing at 10:00am and a funeral at 11:00am at San Pablo Avenue Church of Christ in Oakland on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Burial will be at Mission Memorial Park and Seaside Funeral Home in Seaside on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
