She moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 2001 to be near her family. She had recently been accepted at Hamline University's Master of Fine Arts Program in Minneapolis, where she intended to earn her MFA in creative writing for children and young adults.
Linda is survived by her twin sister, Terri DeBono of Monterey; her daughter, Cassady Velasco-Evers of Carmel Valley; and three grandchildren.
