James Elmer Sanderson

Prunedale - James Elmer Sanderson (Sandy) entered into eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, following an extended illness.
James was born in Gonzales, CA on November 5, 1927 to Alva and Helen Sanderson and was a life-long resident of Monterey County.
James was a graduate of Monterey High School. After graduating he drove a school bus for the M.P.U.S.D. At 21 years of age he joined the City of Monterey Fire Department where he served for eight years as a Fire Fighter/Engineer. He later worked for 25 years with the Calabrese Construction Company and four years with Hillsdale Rock before his retirement in 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Sanderson; four children, Cathy Vanderville of Herlong, CA, Cindy Canepa of Prunedale, Doug Sanderson of Prunedale and Serena Mahlan of Olathe, KS; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
James was member of "The Country Church," 14485 Del Monte Farms Rd., Prunedale and any donations are requested to be sent there.
Visitation is on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Funeral Service is on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., all at Mission Mortuary, Monterey, CA.
