Suzanne Lehr Obituary
CARMEL, CA – Suzanne Lehr was a hero. Armed with the love of her family and friends, she approached her battle against breast cancer in the same way that she led her life, with style and grace, setting an example for all around her. She passed peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2014 surrounded by family and friends.
Educated in New York City, Suzanne became a psychologist and taught at University of Dayton where she ran a drug treatment program. Suzanne moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 1974 and dedicated her life to family, friends and the community. Everyone she loved and everything she was involved in, were blessed and made better by her loving nature and wisdom.
Suzanne was active in the community, co-chairing the Breast Care Initiative for the Carol Hatton Breast Care Center, sitting on the board of the Woman's Forum for Health and involved in the SPCA and other organizations about which she was passionate. She was also an active member of the Monterey Peninsula Country Club and Beach and Tennis Club where she thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
In addition to volunteering her time for philanthropy, and pursuing her love of sport, Suzanne also managed her husband's allergy practice. Her flair for style was reflected in her talent as an interior decorator. Suzanne's strength, beauty and charm were infectious to all around her. Warm memories of Suzanne will remain forever in the hearts and minds of her many loved ones.
Suzanne is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jeffrey Lehr; her four children, Elisa, Alexandra, Vanessa and Ryan; and her four grandchildren. A service will be held at Church in the Forest at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Remembrances may be made in her name to the Community Hospital's Woman's Forum for Health or the UCSF Helen Diller Cancer Center.
