May 5, 1944-June 12, 2016
Kim Venable passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his home in Pike Road, Alabama. He was born in Eclectic, Alabama, on May 5, 1944, to Willie Jean Blake Venable and Clayton Coleman Venable. The family later moved to Tuskegee, Alabama. Kim was an outstanding musician and was a member of a local band, the K-Otics, and later rose to national fame with Dennis Yost & the Classics IV. He was the drummer in both bands. After leaving the music world, he returned to Tuskegee where he joined the family business, Dixie Concrete Pipe Co., Inc. Later in life he enjoyed writing songs, playing the guitar, tending his plants, and enjoying his cats with Judy.
Kim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Monica Venable of Auburn; granddaughter, Corey Venable of Auburn; and devoted companion, Judy Slover of Pike Road, Alabama.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to www.vh1savethemusic.org or a charity of your choice in Kim's memory. Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home is directing.

Bruce and Kim shared their love of music, but we also discussed plants and most importantly, the Bible. We know we will see him again in Heaven. Praying for comfort for Judy and family.

I am sorry that I missed Kim's service today. Late receiving information about time and place. Kim as you fly west toward the setting sun my prayer is that you have found peace and I hope that I was a good friend to you. I will miss seeing you planting your garden and enjoying the little things that make life so sweet...
