Joiner, Joyce  
JOINER, Joyce Jones, of Pike Road, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2015. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Coach Bill Joiner, her mother and father, Murel and Ed Jones, and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Allen and Jill Joiner; daughter & son-in-law, Leslie and Mark Bishop; grandsons, Alan and Brooke Bishop, Brandt Bishop, great-granddaughter, Kate Bishop; sister, Laura T. and John Wright; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a loyal member and supporter of Church in the Pines and Children's Harbor at Lake Martin. Visitation will be at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at 12 Noon, followed by her graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery at 1 PM. Pallbearers will be Ed Jones, Ricky Jones, David Jones, Bob Jones, Jimbo Jones, Johnny Wright, and Snoozie Jones. Mann, James  
James R. Mann, Jr., 81, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home, with funeral services beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Mann was preceded in death by his wife, Rubye Linda Mann; daughter, Linda Renee Praytor, and grandson, Joshua Mann. He is survived by three sons, James R. Mann, III, Darren Keith Mann, Tony Derek Mann; sister, Jeaneane Ricci; grandchildren, James, David, Elizabeth, Josephine, Stephen, Keith, Jonathan, Jeremy; and three great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of God of Montgomery in memory of James R. Mann, Jr.

Mills, Bruce  
MILLS, BRUCE Dr. Bruce D. Mills, (Lt Col retired), 79, of Deatsville, AL died Friday August 28, after a long bout with cancer. A native of Pansy, Harlan County, Kentucky. He had been a resident of Alabama since 1979. Mills was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps 1954-1958 and the United States Air Force 1962-1986 retiring with 27 years service. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy Franks Mills of Wallins Creek, Kentucky, also a son Bruce D.Mills II and wife Jennifer Hudson and granddaughter Katherine Ann Mills of Tuscaloosa, AL. A daughter Marlana Sue Mills-Ritchie of Prattville, AL and a granddaughter Margaret Elizabeth Ritchie of Toledo, OH. Preceding him in death was a son Gregory Allen Mills and a son in law William Walter Ritchie. Professor Mills has been an professor of Economics with the business department of Troy University for more than 23 years. He served with AUM prior to his tenure with Troy. Professor Mills was born Nov 27 1935 in Pansy, KY the son of the late Gilbert Mills and Axie Hubbard-Mills. He is survived by four sisters, Thena Mills Hensley of Richmond, KY, Joyce Mills -Fee and spouse Kenneth of Frankfort, KY. Bernice Mills-McCurry and spouse Clarence of Louisville, KY, Carolyn Mills-Schneider and spouse Earl of Simpsonville, KY. He was a Deacon and member of the First Baptist Church. He is a 1963 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN. received his MBA from the University of Missouri and did some graduate work at the University of Kentucky and did his Doctoral work at University of Denver. Pallbearers include his associates from Troy University: Ray White: Vice Chancellor, Jimmy Simpson, Ronnie D. Portis, David J. Hoover, Michael A. Schraeder and John E. Oswald. The Special Honorary Pallbearers will be friends of his Poundstone Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Montgomery which he had belonged to for over 30 years. Visitation will be Sunday 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the White Chapel, Greenwood Funeral Home. and the Funeral will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church 305 South Perry St. in Montgomery. Officiating will be Dr. Jay Wolf, Dr. Thomas Melzoni and Dr. Dale Huff. Interment will be in the Mausoleum in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Paulson, Byron  
PAULSON, BYRON Byron Alsworth Paulson, age 77, of Montgomery, AL, passed away August 27, 2015. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Montgomery, AL on Wednesday, September 2nd at 11 a.m. A graveside service will also be held in his hometown of Ryder, ND, at a later date. Byron was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Paulson and Irene Paulson Aker, in addition to his sister, Marion Jessen. He is survived by his wife Vivian Paulson, Montgomery, AL; daughter, Gina (Phil) Laney, Acworth, GA; brother Dwight (Donna) Paulson, Madison, WI; grandchildren Trent and Brendan Laney, Acworth, GA, and a number of loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Byron was born on January 30, 1938, at the family homestead in Ryder, ND. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in North Dakota and graduated from Ryder High School in 1956. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was proud of the time that he served our country. Byron's military service brought him to Montgomery, AL, where he met and married Vivian in 1961. He worked for Western Electric which later became AT&T. After retirement from AT&T, he became involved in telephone services and car sales. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany for a many years, and later a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, both in Montgomery. Even though he remained a resident of Alabama, he held strong ties to his roots and made frequent visits back to North Dakota. Byron appreciated his friends and enjoyed sharing meals with them. He was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club. He will be remembered by family and friends as a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and die-hard Alabama fan. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in his honor to Baptist Hospice of Montgomery or your favorite charity.

Singleton, Lechery  
LeCheryl Renee Singleton was born to Sandra Coleman and the late Roderick Marshall on January 9, 1970, in Montgomery, Alabama. Renee passed on Monday, August 24, 2015. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Magnolia Cremations and Funeral Services located at 901 S. McDonough Street. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. BURROUGHS, CLEM Burroughs, Mr. Clem William, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on August 25, 2015. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 30th at 2:00 PM at the Ross-Clayton Funeral Home Chapel, 1412 Adams Ave. Montgomery, AL 36104 with Pastor James Arnell officiating. He was a retired federal worker where he worked with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare as well as the Peace Corp where he served several tours in India. Mr. Burroughs was the son of Sarah and William Burroughs (Deceased) of Greensboro, Alabama and the nephew of Olga Lanier McCorvey (Deceased) and David E. McCorvey. He leaves to mourn a host of cousins and friends including his Uncle, David E. McCorvey; cousins, Denise Taylor and her children, especially Keedrick Taylor who assisted him in his final years, a special friend Nancy Wingo, and cousins Michael McCorvey and Everett McCovey.

Caviness, Edward  
Edward L Caviness Jr., 80, passed away August 22, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Frances Caviness, Goldsboro N.C. and a beloved daughter, Susan Speigner of Prattville, Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Caviness; daughter, Nancy (Mark) Dybczak and son, Bobby (Nicole Wainwright) Caviness, all of Prattville. Three grandchildren, Holly (JJ) Whitaker of Deatsville, Taylor Caviness and Aspen Dybczak both of Prattville. One great-grandchild, Ellyson Whitaker of Deatsville and a sister Ann Caviness of Raleigh, N.C. Ed graduated from Goldsboro N.C. high school where he won three state high school tennis titles. After high school he went to Duke University for one year and then spent 4 years in the US Air Force. He then attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. where he played varsity tennis and graduated with a Bachelor's of Business Administration Degree. After graduation Ed spent 36 years as a Public Health Advisor for the Center for Disease Control based in Atlanta, Georgia. He served at many posts throughout the country and numerous positions at the CDC headquarters in Atlanta. Ed loved Crimson Tide football, even naming his beloved parrot "Bama". Sister Mary of the Rosary Jones O.P., 89, of Marbury died Monday, August 24, 2015 at Dominican Monastery of St. Jude, Marbury. She was born on Wednesday, September 2, 1925 in Chicago, IL, Daughter of the late Andrew Jones and the late Lalia Davis Jones. She was a Nun. Surviving are Mother Mary Joseph; Sister Mary of the Sacred Heart, Sister Mary of the Precious Blood, Sister Mary Jordan, Sister Mary Thomas, Sister Chelsea, Sister Mary Aimee, Aunt, June Jones, Cousin, Junemary Heard and Other Relatives.
