Clara Taylor Loftin, 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at her Prattville, Alabama home. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maggie Taylor; sisters Ruth Wadsworth, Margaret Hudson, Bertha McLendon, and Hattie Brooks; brothers Malcolm Taylor and John Taylor; and great-grandson Tate Jones. Clara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack E. Loftin; daughters Dianne (Bob) Brooke, Deb McCurdy, Delain (Randell) Smith; and son Danny (Gretchen) Loftin; grandchildren Hayden Brooke, Todd (Colette) Brooke, Courtney (Heath) Gray, Christina (David) Jones, Chase (Bethany) Loftin, Chelsea Loftin, Clay Loftin, Steve (Cindy) Mullis, McKenzie Smith, Mitchell Smith, and Kimberly (Kenny) Strength; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Clara spent much of her life as a resident of Montgomery. She raised four very successful children and supported her loving husband throughout his career as co-owner and operator of Loftin Brothers Transportation Co., Inc. She loved going to the beach, camping at Wind Creek State Park, working on the Wallace gubernatorial campaigns, going on road trips with Jack, watching the birds in her yard, enjoying her flowers bloom, and solving word search puzzles. Her final years were spent battling Alzheimer's. The family expresses special thanks to caregivers Tracey Dailey and Bea Burch of Baptist Hospice for their love, care, and concern. Visitation will be at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 15 at 11:00 am until funeral services at 1:00 pm and burial following at Prattville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons Hayden Brooke, Chase Loftin, Clay Loftin, Steve Mullis, Mitchell Smith, and nephew Billy Smith.
