Jack Johnson

JOHNSON, Mr. Jack Stephens, U.S. Army WWII, Veteran; beloved Husband, "Pop", "Big Pop", Uncle Jack, and "Mayor of Santuck", a native and lifelong resident of the Santuck Community, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the age of 90. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Gassett Funeral Home. Graveside services are Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Santuck Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Larry Gore and Rev. John MacLaren officiating. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife and caregiver of thirty years, Eunice Johnson, son, Rick (Sherri) Thompson; nephews, Frank (Janette) Johnson and Jerry Lanier; a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Brantley Johnson; brothers, Austin Johnson and Henry Johnson; and sister, Pauline Owens. Pallbearers will be members of the Santuck Volunteer Fire Department. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Santuck Volunteer Fire Department, Santuck Baptist Church, or to ones favorite charity. Mr. Johnson retired after thirty-two years of service as Deputy U.S. Marshall with the Federal Government. In retirement he enjoyed farming and compassionately serving his hometown in many venues to include president of the Santuck Community Center and Flea Marker for over twenty years.
