HENRY SEGREST Obituary

Henry Claude Segrest, Jr., 90, a lifelong resident of Macon County, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Springs Baptist Church in Franklin. Ronald Sumner will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Corbitt's Funeral Home.

Mr. Segrest is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nora Murphy Segrest; his sons Robert C. Segrest and Tony D. (Sonita) Segrest; his grandchildren, Robert C. Segrest, Jr., Keith Segrest, John Paul Segrest, Zachary Segrest and Abby Segrest; his sisters Mary Agnes (Andrew) Cooper and Hattie Louise (Hayward) Toney; and also by numerous nieces,nephews and friends. Mr. Segrest was preceded in death by his parents Henry Claude Segrest, Sr and Blanche May Segrest; his brother Richard Harold Segrest; and by his daughter-in-law Penny Lamberth Segrest.

Mr. Segrest was a member and deacon at Pleasant Springs Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Macon County Cattleman's Association. Mr. Segrest was a postal clerk at the Tuskegee Post Office for almost 30 years.

Corbitt's Funeral Home is directing.

Uncle Claude was a gentle and loving family man who served his country, his community and his God. Our family knows that he is at peace and that God's Will provides us with His mercy. His smile and love will stay in our hearts until we meet again!
