I want Mr. Girdner's family to know that Jack is a true American hero. He brought joy into the lives of two young children, and he did it because he had a good heart. He is gone. But his spirit lives in all of us.

I remember how your mother (Ruth Girdner) always cared about people and tried to get them on the right path.
