Audrey "Ann" Welch May passed away on June 26, 2013 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. The oldest of three children, Ann was born on January 28, 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was raised in Montgomery and attended Auburn University, graduating in three years with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973. At Auburn, Ann was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After graduation, Ann briefly moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines in 1974, finally settling in Dallas, Texas. Ann married former SMU Mustang and Houston Oiler, Terry M. May, in 1977, and together they moved to Keller, Texas where they raised their daughters, Andrea and Teresa. After her husband's death in 2000, Ann returned to Dallas. After a 30-year career with Delta that took her all over the country, she finally retired in 2004. In 2006, she met her second love, Gary Elam. For the past seven years, Ann and Gary have shared in their love and passion for antiques, art and design, working alongside each other at his showroom in the Dallas Design District. Ann's son-in-law described her best, "she knew everything about everything." It was through her travels and voracity for reading and learning that Ann amassed a vast knowledge and appreciation for history, travel, art and antiques, passions that she shared with her daughters. Ann was also a fabulous hostess who took enormous pride and pleasure in entertaining family and friends.
