Henry Frederick Lippincott, Jr, 78, of Montgomery died January 1, 2013 after a brief illness. A native of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Williams College and the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Ph.D. in English, Fred came to Maxwell AFB in Montgomery as a United States Air Force Lt. Colonel. After retiring from the Air Force, Fred, a lover of French culture and language, earned a Master's Degree in French from Auburn University, then taught French at Alabama State University. He was a member of the Alliance Francaise of Montgomery and a supporter of many cultural organizations including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Montgomery Chamber Music Organization, the Montgomery Art Guild, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, and the Capri Community Film Society. Fred was an excellent cook, a consummate host, a generous friend, and an honorary uncle to several young people. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry F. and Helen Lippincott. He is survived by his cousin Barbara Fry of California, goddaughter Susan Fry Lee of California , and a host of friends who will always remember the good times around Fred's dinner table.
