On July 13, 2013; Jerry Leon Johnson, age 67, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his wife and children. His life was a living example of his faith in God and the world is a better place because he lived. Visitation will be held at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral home at 1500 Frederick Road in Opelika, Alabama; on Monday, July 15, at 6:00-8:00 p.m., CST. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013; at 10:00 am CST also at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Jerry was born and raised in Evergreen, Alabama but lived his adult life in Opelika, Alabama where he was a well respected and loved part of his community. He was the owner of Datacount, which created software for radio stations, for 25 years until he retired in January of 2000.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Maxine R. Johnson and their children Eric D. Johnson and his wife Traci of Opelika; and his daughter, Deborah M. Danford and her husband Billy of Columbus, Georgia; five precious grandchildren, Haleigh and Curt Johnson and Jacob, Lundon and Hayden Danford, which were the light of his life, along with a brother, Melvin Johnson and his wife Ramona of Montgomery, Alabama; a half brother, Ronnie Johnson and his wife Tracy of Cantonment, Florida and half sister, Carol Bolen and her husband Harry of Selma, Alabama, as well as extended family and many treasured friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Johnson; his mother, Berta Johnson Tolbert; his sisters, Mary Ellen Majors and Mildred Spearman; and his brothers, William "Bill" Johnson, and Leslie Johnson.
Jerry's gentle and caring spirit touched so many and will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the
