MARSHALL, Joseph Edward, 89, a resident of Hardaway, AL passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM from Leak-Memory Chapel with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:30 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Survivors include three children, Bob Marshall (Barbara), Margaret Traylor, & Gayle Harris (Lynn); five grandchildren, Matthew Marshall, Laura Marshall Williams (Reid), Brian Traylor, and Hayden & Parker Harris; two great-grandchildren, Sage & Grant Traylor; sisters-in-law, Margaret Cook, Mary Corbman (Al) and Mable Marshall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Madison Marshall. Pallbearers will be Matthew Marshall, Parker Harris, Brian Traylor, Stan, Mark & Lee Cook and Barry & Richard Corbman. Honorary pallbearers will be friends from Dixie Youth Baseball. Mr. Marshall retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Alabama National Guard as a Chief Master Sergeant, as well as the Lagoon Park Softball Complex. He served as a Dixie Youth Baseball coach, league president and state director, in which the field at Morningview Park is named in his honor. He was a 50 year Sunday School Teacher and member of the Capitol Heights United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Capitol Heights United Methodist Church.
