Sarah E. Bell of Montgomery, AL, passed from her earthly life into the arms of Jesus on June 29, 2013 at 3:50 am at the West Oaks Rehab and Health Care Center. She resided there the past 30 days because of failing health and a sudden onset of dementia with hospice care the last 5 days. She had 2 angelic nurses who just loved on her, hummed hymns, and held her hand. Sarah moved to Sugar Land, TX, 3 years ago to live with her daughter and family.

Sarah was born December 20, 1920 in Millport, AL to Myrtle and Jesse T. Cook. She graduated from Millport High School where she played basketball and was inducted into the school sports Hall of Fame in 1985. Reading was a real joy, as well as gardening and cooking her "favorite" foods. Sarah loved her family unconditionally and always wanted everyone to be happy.
Sarah was retired from the U S Postal Service, where she was one of the first four lady carriers in Montgomery. She was very well liked by fellow workers and customers on her "route". In 1975 one wrote to her office that she was the best carrier he ever had in more than 50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Reinhart and husband, Corky of Sugar Land, TX and Sandra Collier and husband, Sanford of Titus, AL; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Last, but not least, are a few remaining friends at the Light House Baptist Church in Montgomery, where she was a member. She cherished these friends, especially her Pastor, Dr. Mickey Kirkland and his family. Her beautiful smile and sweet ways will be sorely missed.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bell; son, Jimmy Parker; mother and father, as well as 4 loving brothers and 3 sisters. Sarah was reared in a loving and close knit family, which carried over into her whole life. She was always teaching kind words and quick forgiveness.
