CAROLYN JEAN BLAKE MCCORMACK

MCCORMACK, CarolynJean Blake, 74, a residentof Montgomery, passedaway April 4, 2011 atBaptist South with herfamily by her side. She wasborn January 7, 1937 inMontgomery, Alabama tothe late Madison MossBlake Sr. and the lateGladys M. Patterson Blake.While young, she wasbabysat by the late musiclegend Hank Williams Sr.After graduating SidneyLanier High School in 1955,she worked briefly as amodel and on a local TVshow. She also rode thesame bus with Rosa Parks,in which her picture wastaken by a U.P. photogra¡pher and is now a part ofhistory. She attended a lo¡cal college, majoring inEnglish and Journalism.While working on MaxwellAir Force Base, she met(the late) Col. Lemuel ôLeeöHouston McCormack Jr.They were married inVirginia on September 22,1958. They traveledextensively throughoutEurope, living in Franceand Germany, where sheserved as a committeemember for the OfficersWives Club. She was amember of the Air ForceCivil Air Patrol, while Leewas Deputy Commander.After returning to the States,she lived a short time inHouston, Texas beforereturning to her home townof Montgomery andresiding on Maxwell AFB.She was hostess of manyparties in their home,where the guests includedthe Governor and otherdignitaries. In 1972, she di¡vorced and moved withher children off base. Shereturned as a Federal Em¡ployee at Maxwell AFB withthe AF ChaplinÆs ResourceBoard, and then workedfor the Air University Pressas Technical Editor, whereshe assisted in publishingmany of the War CollegesÆmanuals. She retired in2006 after 33 years ofeditorial work. She was anavid reader who enjoyedhistory, gourmet cooking,belly dancing, and givingall to raising her children.Carolyn was a devotedmother, grandmother, andfriend who will be dearlymissed. She was precededin death by her parents,and her brother SonnyMadison Moss Blake Jr.(Elois McGlamry-Blake).She leaves behind her fourdaughters, Carol LynnStone (Bruce) ofDouglasville, Ga., JanetMichelle Mays (Paul) ofPrattville, Al., Sharon LeighDonnelly (David) of Miami,Fl., and Lucinda ôCindyöMarie Hester of Shelby, Al.Her Grandchildren; DustinWayne Hurst, Valerie Lynn(Hurst) Moser (Travis),Marilyn Olivia (Hurst)Camp (Joe), Jonathon LeeHurst, Blake Hadley Mays,Jesse Ryan Mays, LaurenNichole Hester, AlexanderDwayne Hester,Christopher HoustonDonnelly, Conner FrancisDonnelly, her great grand¡children ; Corvin TylerShaw, Cameron DrakeCamp, Samuel Hale Moser,David Patrick Moser, and 3nephews.MemorialServices will be held atLeak Memory Chapel onSaturday April 16, 2011. Thefamily is receiving visitorsfrom 2:00-3:00 with servicesto start at 3:00pm.Reverend Tommy Bulgerwill be officiating. .
