Kellogg, Chev Latham, of Huntsville, AL, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014.
Chev grew up in Scarsdale, NY and received an engineering physics degree from New York University College of Engineering. His long and varied career in the space industry included projects on Saturn V, Skylab, Hubble Space Telescope and the Space Shuttle. He was part of the mission control team in Huntsville, AL during the early launches of the space shuttles. Chev also received a Snoopy Award for his accomplishments, which is awarded and presented by astronauts to honor a select few scientists who went above and beyond the call of duty in their dedication to space exploration.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at Perpetual Care Cemetery in Union Springs, AL with Rev. David Stewart officiating. A visitation will be held at Gray Funeral Home from 1:00 until the funeral hour. A memorial and remembrance will be held in the weeks to come in Huntsville, AL.
Chev is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Harden Kellogg; son, Chev Harden Kellogg and his wife of Huntsville, AL; his daughter, Becky Kellogg Wheeler, her husband and daughter of Marietta, GA; his mother-in-law, Eloise Stuart Harden of Hardaway, AL; his sister, Jane Cleary and her husband of Springfield, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Nature Conservancy or the Huntsville/ Madison Co. Land Trust will be appreciated.
