Mathews, Henry Matt, Lt. Col. Ret., age 82, a resident of Milton, Georgia, and formerly Montgomery, Alabama, died February 12, 2014. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 17, 11:00 a.m. at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, with the Rev. Glen Pugh officiating. Mr. Mathews is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita Rae Mathews; two sons, Mark (Cathy) Mathews of Lake Forest, CA and Michael (Amy) Mathews of Milton, GA; granddaughter Lauren Mathews, Redondo Beach, CA and granddaughter Megan Storrs of Lake Forest, CA; and granddaughters Anna, Claire and Emma Mathews of Milton, GA; brother Hankins Mathews of Milton, FL and nieces and nephews. Mr. Mathews was a graduate of the University of Florida and Syracuse University. Mr. Mathews served 20 years in the United States Air Force and 20 years in Civil Service. He was a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, Alpharetta, GA and former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Montgomery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the graveside service. Pallbearers will be members of the Berean Sunday School Class of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be given to the American Heart Assn, Boy Scouts of America or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
