Marcia Monroe Obituary
Monroe, Mrs. Marcia Jeane Morgan, age 68, a resident of Millbrook, Alabama passed away on Sunday April 13, 2014. Marcia was born on September 25, 1945 in Canal Zone, Panama and spent her early years in Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Bolivia. She graduated from Singapore American School, Singapore and met her future husband Earle in Denver, Colorado where she graduated from Colorado Women's College. She and Earle lived in a multitude of places in the USA, Europe and South America wherever the US Airforce sent them. Marcia was a State Department certified English-as-a-Second-Language instructor and loved teaching the international families at the Air University in ESL classes and also the International Family Orientation Program. Over the course of her career she taught students from over 80 countries. She literally has friends around the world. Marcia spent over twelve years teaching at Edgewood Academy in Elmore, Alabama. Her students knew her as a strict, fair and caring teacher. Many of her students still kept in touch years after graduation. She was very active in the Episcopal Church Women, Vestry and Altar Guild at her cherished St Michael and All Angels' Church in Millbrook, Alabama; was past president of Kappa Kappa Iota teachers sorority; was Events Planner for functions at The Elms in Coosada, Alabama. Marcia leaves behind her loving husband Earle Monroe, daughters Michelle Burdell, Melissa Monroe (Stan Skipper), granddaughter Morgan Burdell, grandson Jacob Burdell, grandson-in-law Kade Skipper and granddaughter-in-law, Ruby Skipper all of Millbrook, Alabama, sister Karen Morgan of Charleston, SC, brother Paul Morgan (Teri), and nieces Chelsea and Sydney Morgan of Fuqua-Varina, NC. In addition are her sisters in Christ at St Michael and All angels', her sorority sisters of Kappa Kappa Iota, and her extended international family and others too many to be named. Marcia was dearly loved by many and will be missed sorely. God has taken a good one from us; He/She better take care of her. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of Baptist South Hospital for their extraordinary care and kindness. Father Mark Waldo, Jr was and is a wonderful blessing to each of us. God Bless Marcia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 214 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at The Elms in Coosada, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Memorial Fund, St Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church, 5941 Main Street, Millbrook, Alabama 36054.
