Faulkner, Nellie Sharpe, 89, a lifelong resident of Bullock County, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Smith and Rev. Robbins Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery with Gray Funeral Home directing.
Caring for and enjoying her large family occupied much of Nellie's time and energy. She was married to her husband, Edwin, for 60 years. After working tirelessly to help provide for their six children, in later years Nellie delighted in gatherings of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She would cook for days. Her fried chicken, biscuits, barbecue, cakes, and candies were legendary. Nellie extended the same kind of hospitality to neighbors and friends. She remained connected to many people and was ever ready to visit or receive visitors. Music was one of Nellie's special joys. A naturally gifted singer, she was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church choir for many years. She and her daughter, Pamela, also sang for several years with an amateur Sweet Adeline's ensemble at Troy University. In all things, Christ was the source of Nellie's life. She felt as much at home at Macedonia Baptist Church as in her own house. Her family gives thanks for the gift of Nellie's life and for the promise of a glad reunion with her and all who have gone before us.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin H. Faulkner and son, E. Marvin Faulkner.
She is survived by four daughters: Geneve (Julian) Rotton of Spartanburg, SC, Jan Price of Titus, AL, Nell (Robbins) Sims of Montgomery, AL and Pamela Faulkner of Montgomery, AL; son: Lloyd (Joy) Faulkner of Montgomery, AL; daughter-in-law: Patsy Faulkner of Almeria Community; 15 grandchildren: Kay Henderson, Carroll Goodwin, Kim Knighten, Jackie Hicks, Sarah Sessions, Emily Boles, Anna Barnes, Barry Rotton, Blake Rotton, Blair Rotton, Keith Faulkner, Kevin Faulkner, Kendall Faulkner, Chris Faulkner, Will Sims; brother: Otha Sharpe of Ozark, AL; sister: Flora Reeves of Montgomery, AL.
